Worker Housing: Your Right to Free Use, and What You Cannot Be Charged For

5 min read Article 2 · 4 · 12 · 13

The short answer

If your employer provides housing, using it is completely free throughout your employment — and the space and health standards are binding on them, not optional.

🆓 Completely free to use

📜 Articles 12 and 13

"The worker benefits from the right to use the housing as long as they remain on the job until the end of the contractual relationship with the employer." And: "The employer may not charge the worker any financial burden in exchange for using the housing."

📌 Only one exception

Article 5 clarifies: "The worker is liable for all costs necessary to repair any damage they caused to the housing." That is, the housing itself is free, but intentional damage or negligence on your part remains your responsibility.

📏 Binding space standards

📜 Article 4 (temporary collective housing)

"An area of (4) four square meters is allocated per worker at maximum, such that no more than two workers share the space between one bed and another." And restrooms: "one toilet per five persons... and one shower per five persons."

🏗️ Site selection conditions

📜 Article 2

"Housing shall not be established in industrial zones, warehouse areas, or any location causing environmental or industrial pollution or any source of disturbing noise."

💡 If your housing doesn't meet these standards

These aren't recommendations — they are binding conditions on the employer under the text of the regulation. Violating them forms grounds for a complaint to the competent authorities.
